Research and Innovation Authority allocates OMR2.2 million to 467 research proposals

The Research and Innovation Authority has allocated OMR2.2 million to fund 467 research proposals in the 2026 cycle of its competency-based institutional funding programme, with 28 higher education and research institutions taking part. The announcement, reported by the Oman News Agency on 3 October 2026, ties the programme to national research capacity and Oman Vision 2040.
The funded proposals break down as 178 undergraduate, 162 graduate and 127 doctoral. They span education and human resources, environmental and biological resources, ICT, health and social services, energy and industry, culture and humanities, basic sciences and urban planning.
