Eight collaborative research projects funded with Sultan Qaboos Academic Chairs abroad
The first cycle of the Authority’s chairs programme received 46 proposals from nine Omani institutions and funded eight.
The Research and Innovation Authority announced the results of the first cycle of its Collaboration Programme with Sultan Qaboos Academic Chairs. Twelve chairs hosted by universities abroad coordinated 46 proposals submitted by nine Omani research institutions, and eight were funded. Each project is carried out jointly by the Authority, a local institution and the international chair holder.
The funded projects fall into five domains:
- International relations, Middle Eastern studies and religion — 1 project
- Arabic and Islamic studies — 1 project
- Water and desert agriculture — 2 projects
- Information technology — 2 projects
- Mathematical sciences — 2 projects
Local partners include Sultan Qaboos University, the University of Nizwa, A’Sharqiyah University, the University of Al Buraimi, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Shinas), Muscat College and Middle East College. Partner chairs are hosted by institutions including the University of Tokyo, Peking University, Arabian Gulf University, Utrecht University, NED University of Engineering and Technology and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
