Young Omani inventors win three gold medals at ITEX 2026 in Malaysia
Projects on carbon-based roads, an edge-AI development board and a battery made from marine and electronic waste earned golds and special awards.
Students from three governorates took gold at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Kuala Lumpur. They came through the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, supported by OMIFCO.
- “Roads Paved with Carbon Materials” — Khawla bint Hakim School, Dhofar: gold in the environmental category, plus a best-innovation award from the University of Hafar Al-Batin.
- “Integrated Smart Development Board for Edge AI and Internet of Things Applications” — Musa bin Ali School, Al Dakhiliyah: gold in information technology, communications and multimedia, plus a special award from the Qassim Association for Creativity and Innovation.
- “Smart Green Battery Manufactured from Marine and Electronic Waste” — Zubaida Umm Al Ameen School, Muscat: gold in the environmental category, plus the Young Innovator Award and a special award from the Energy and Water Academy.
