التهاب الثدي التدرني هو كيان سريري نادر وعادة ما يؤثر على النساء من شبه القارة الهندية وأفريقيا. غالبًا ما يحاكي سرطان الثدي والخراج الثدي القيحي سريريًا وأشعاعيًا، وقد يتواجد كلاهما. الفحوصات المخبرية الروتينية ليست مفيدة في تشخيصه. تعتبر خزعة الإبرة الدقيقة (FNAC) / الخزعة ضرورية للتشخيص، وقد تكون زراعة السل مفيدة جدًا عند إيجابيتها لتوجيه العلاج المضاد للميكروبات. عادة ما تكون الأدوية المضادة للسل بالاشتراك مع الشفط أو تصريف الجراحة مرتبطة بنتيجة ممتازة.
