Abstract
This letter discusses the expert consensus on palivizumab for the prophylaxis of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) disease in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. It emphasizes the need for unified regional guidelines and highlights the challenges of implementing effective RSV prophylaxis, including the scarcity of epidemiological data, financial sustainability, and the impact of COVID-19 on RSV seasonality. The letter advocates for considering emerging prophylactic strategies, such as nirsevimab, and calls for continuous surveillance programs to refine prophylaxis recommendations.
