الملخص
هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى فهم العلاقة بين التفاؤل غير الواقعي والتدخين. ولإستكشاف العلاقة، تمت مقارنة مجموعتين: مدخنون مصابون بالسرطان ومدخنون غير مصابين بالسرطان. طُبّق مقياس سلوك التدخين ومقياس التفاؤل غير الواقعي على 130 شخصاً من المدخنين بدون سرطان الرئة و112 مدخناً مصاباً بسرطان الرئة. استُخدم برنامج SPSS18 للحصول على المتوسطات والارتباطات، واختبار t وتحليل التباين. أشارت النتائج إلى وجود ارتباط إيجابي معنوي بين التفاؤل غير الواقعي وعدد السجائر التي يتم تدخينها يومياً بين المدخنين غير المصابين بسرطان الرئة ووجود ارتباط سلبي معنوي بين التفاؤل غير الواقعي والعمر وسنوات التدخين بين المدخنين غير المصابين بسرطان الرئة. كما وجدت الدراسة فروقاً في التفاؤل غير الواقعي بين المدخنين المصابين والمدخنين غير المصابين، لكنها لصالح غير المصابين.
