"abstract": "This study aimed to reveal the level of knowledge of eleventh grade students in the Sultanate of Oman about sustainable tourism in light of the requirements of the purple economy. To achieve this, the study sample was selected randomly, which consisted of (267) male and female students from the Governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah and North Al Batinah in the Sultanate of Oman. The study followed the descriptive approach, and data were collected using the study tool represented by the cognitive achievement test, which consisted of (22) questions, distributed over four main axes, which are: First - interest in sustainable tourism (9 questions), Second - the importance of sustainable tourism (7 questions), Third - the negative effects of tourism (3 questions), and Fourth - proposals to promote sustainable tourism (3 questions). The necessary values of validity and reliability were verified, and the data were analyzed using appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical methods through the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results of the study revealed that the general level of knowledge of sustainable tourism among the study sample was very low. It also showed the presence of a statistically significant difference at the significance level (α≤0.05) according to the gender variable in favor of females, in addition to the presence of a statistically significant difference at the significance level (α≤0.05) according to the governorate variable in favor of Muscat and South Al Batinah Governorates. Based on these results, the researchers presented a set of recommendations and proposals."
