"abstract": "The study aimed to identify the perceptions of basic education students in the Sultanate of Oman about sustainable healthy lifestyles and methods of disease prevention in light of certain variables. The study used the descriptive approach. To achieve its aim, a questionnaire of 36 items, distributed over two axes — healthy lifestyles and disease prevention — was administered. The reliability of the instrument was calculated using two methods: internal consistency, with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.808, and split-half reliability, which was 0.753. The study was applied to a sample of 3,570 students in the ninth and tenth grades of basic education. The results showed positive perceptions among basic education students on the axis of sustainable healthy lifestyles: personal hygiene obtained the highest healthy pattern, followed by physical activity and nutrition, while sleep was the lowest healthy pattern. The results also showed positive perceptions on the axis of disease prevention methods. The study found no statistically significant differences by gender or educational governorate on either axis (healthy lifestyles and disease prevention methods). Accordingly, the study recommended strengthening basic education students' awareness of the importance of practicing sustainable healthy lifestyles."
