"abstract": "Social insurance is a basic support of development in society. It guarantees the citizen’s safety and psychological, social and economic stability through highly efficient and effective institutional performance that keeps up with social, economic and technical developments. It is worth noting that the insurance industry cannot develop in an environment where the insurance culture is absent among its members. Despite the great efforts made by the Public Authority for Social Insurance in spreading insurance awareness, the actual reality indicates that individuals have little knowledge of insurance. Therefore, this study aims to present a proposed program for the development of insurance awareness from the perspective of one of the recent models, which is the bridge model. The current study is considered descriptive analytical study using the mixed method, which combines the quantitative and the qualitative approach. An electronic questionnaire (the quantitative method tool) was used on a sample of (209) workers in private schools in the Governorate of Muscat, as well as the focus group (as the qualitative method tool) with a sample of employees of the General Authority for Social Insurance. The results showed the great efforts made by the Authority to develop insurance awareness, in spite of that, the results revealed a weak insurance awareness among the insured, due to a number of obstacles that all fall into the correct access by the Authority, and the insured. According to the results, a proposed program was presented from the perspective of the bridge model, concerned with overcoming these obstacles and developing insurance awareness in the Omani society."
