"abstract": "This study identifies the role of communication technology in crisis management in Irbid Electricity Company from the point of view of its employees. A questionnaire was distributed to (150) individuals including engineers, technicians and administrators in the company. The findings show (81.3%) of the participants do not take lectures, seminars, and conferences related to dealing with communication technology and crisis management. Furthermore, the most severe crises facing workers is the frequent interruptions of electricity, such as the failure of transformers and the disconnection of lines resulting from the faults. The findings also indicate that each of mobile phones and social media platforms, as communication technology tools, are used when facing crises. Relatedly, the availability of communication technology in crisis management is represented by the 24/7 internet access using computers, which helps managing crises and problems besides the role of social media and mobile phones in crisis management because of their speed and efficiency. Regarding the challenges facing the employees when they use communication technology in crisis management, the results have proved that there is a lack of professional staff in crisis management, and the lack of sufficient logistical support. By the presence of professionals that are capable of handling crises using communication technology tools and appropriate communication strategies, the participants think challenges can be overcome, in addition to the importance of a modern technological system, which responds efficiently in crises."
